Hey Sacred Place Family,
This Sunday is Mission Sunday, which means I have the day off—and you all get to be the church without me for a morning. I love that. I hope the brunch is everything it should be: good food, good people, and a table that feels like home.
LOCATION CHANGE!! We’ll be at Lazy Dog Restaurant (11560 4th St, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730) since Kick Back Jack’s doesn’t take reservations.
If you haven’t RSVP’d yet for brunch, there is still time!
I’ll see you back on May 3—and there’s a lot of good stuff between now and Pentecost. Here’s what’s coming:
Paul and Silas are in a Roman prison at midnight—beaten, chained, singing hymns. Then the earth shakes, the doors swing open, and the jailer falls to his knees. “Singing at Midnight” asks what it looks like to worship before the deliverance comes—and discovers that the singing itself might be the miracle.
Paul walks into Athens and finds an altar to an unknown God. He doesn’t tear it down—he preaches from it. What if the Spirit is already at work in the places we least expect, in the people we least expect, even in us?
Before the Wind Comes, we practice emptying.
Paul is in prison. He shouldn’t be writing a letter full of joy—and yet. Philippians opens with gratitude so stubborn it feels almost defiant, and by chapter two it breaks into song: the oldest poem in the Christian tradition, the one that says God chose to become small. To let go of everything. To make room.
One week before Pentecost, we sit with the posture that makes space for the Spirit.
