Found Family
Ruth 4:1–22
The story of Ruth ends with a baby, a name, and a community gathered to witness it. Obed is born. Naomi holds him. The women of the neighborhood say: a son has been born to Naomi. Not to Ruth and Boaz. To Naomi—the one who came home empty and told everyone to call her Bitter. She is not bitter anymore. Week 4 of Found Family is Pride Sunday, and we arrive here: at the moment when loss gives way to new life. Not because the hard things didn't happen, but because loyalty and love and a little audacity kept showing up anyway. This is a communion Sunday—we'll gather at the table together. The family Ruth built wasn't the one she planned. It was better. Join us June 28.
