Seasons of Life
Acts 2:1–21; Philippians 4:4–7
On the fiftieth day after Easter, the disciples are gathered together when the Spirit shows up—not quietly, not politely. Wind fills the house. Tongues of fire rest on each person. They pour out into the streets speaking in every language under heaven, and the crowd outside can't make sense of it. Some think they're drunk. This is Pentecost: the birthday of the church, the commissioning of a community, the moment the story that began at Easter finds its feet and starts moving. The Spirit doesn't arrive to conclude anything. She arrives to send. Wind and Tongue and Fire is the final Sunday of the Eastertide season—and a communion Sunday. We close the table open, the way we always do. Join us May 24.
