Community Building

Good Morning, Sacred Place!

Join us tomorrow at the Mission Center at 11:00 AM It’s Mission Sunday, and we’ll be combining our usual Bible study format with a discussion about the plans we’re making for 2025. There’s really nothing new for me to add to the calendar just yet, but I’m working on some outreach ideas that we’ll be talking about.

The annual meeting went well last week, and there were a few ideas mentioned that I want your input on.

Way back in 2020, just before the world went into lockdown due to COVID, I had a chance to audition for the director of a well known choir in Los Angeles. I was not selected, my audition was terrible, but something was said in the interview before the audition that I still cary with me:

“I don’t know what I’m looking for, but I’ll know it when I find it. And if I can’t find it, then maybe I’ll go make it myself.”

That idea is what keeps me moving forward. We’ve been looking for ways to build partnerships in the community. As we continue to do that, we’re also asking if it might be time to start building something that hasn’t existed here before. To do that we need you! Every week we say that sacred places are made by the people who are in them, and each one of you is part of that. Whether you join us online or in person, your presence here is important. You are important.

If you’re able, consider joining us in person tomorrow. There’s no online service this week. I’d like each of you to start thinking about the things that we can do to build community for ourselves and for the people around us. If you have ideas or are interested in getting involved and helping out, please reach out to me.

People make this a Sacred Place

We want to hear from you. Whether you join us in person on Sunday mornings, watch our livestreams, or if you’ve just recently signed up for our newsletter and haven’t had a chance to be with us yet, you are welcome. If you’d like to introduce yourself, you can reach us by phone or text at (909) 506-2400, or you can reach out via email at here.

Loving our Neighbors

Riverside Interfaith Council

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about non-christian faiths, the Riverside Interfaith Council is seeking to build a community of people who’s diverse faiths and spiritual practices can come together and focus more on the things that unite us than on our differences. Periodically, RIC invites a faith leader to share about their core beliefs. These events also include some question and time, and afterwards there. The Faith Chat that was scheduled for last Thursday was rescheduled to March, and we will post more info on that when it becomes available.
